The Eastbourne College

Eastbourne College is a co-educational independent boarding and day school located in Eastbourne, a seaside town on the south coast of England. The college was founded in 1867 and has a long-standing reputation for academic excellence and outstanding pastoral care.

The school caters for pupils aged 13 to 18 and offers a broad curriculum including traditional academic subjects, as well as modern languages, art, music, drama, and sports. The school has a strong focus on extra-curricular activities and encourages students to participate in a wide range of clubs and societies.

The campus is located on a spacious site and features modern facilities such as free WIFI, science labs, art studios, a sports centre, a theatre, and a music school. The school also has a strong tradition of boarding, with around two-thirds of the students residing on campus.

Study Holiday in England: Eastbourne

Possibility to choose between accommodation in college, in single, double and multiple rooms with shared bathrooms, located in different buildings around the campus or a family, with a classmate from the same nationality or with a foreign student (subscription for public transport included). Host Family accommodation is available on request for students minimum age of 14 years old.

Full board treatment with lunch in the college for everyone, while breakfast and dinner will be eaten in the college or with the family.

Study Holiday in Eastbourne: course of study

15 hours (60 minutes each) of lessons per week of General English Course, in the morning or the afternoon. Possibility to register for the Trinity GESE Exam (to be carried out online, if the minimum required of 15 participants is not reached).

The native-speaking teachers are all qualified to teach English to foreign students and form homogeneous classes based on the results of the initial test carried out by all the students to establish their linguistic level.

The study material is provided by the school as well as the certificate of attendance, which is issued at the end of the course.

Study Holiday in Eastbourne: free time

Excursions

Excursions include direct trains, entertainment, and support staff.

  • 2 FULL DAYS IN LONDON – students will see Buckingham Palace, the Parliament and Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, the London Eye, the Thames, Trafalgar Square, and much more. At the end of the sightseeing tour, the kids will have free time to visit shops and buy souvenirs. In the second educational excursion, students will have the opportunity to visit some of London’s wonderful museums, markets, art galleries, or parks. They will also get to explore a new part of London, like Covent Garden, the City, go shopping on Oxford Street, or simply immerse themselves in the capital’s atmosphere.
  • 1 FULL DAY IN BRIGHTON – Our tour includes the white Regency architecture along the seafront, Brighton Beach, and the Victorian Brighton Pier, as well as time for shopping in the trendiest stores of the Lanes. The educational excursion also includes a visit to the famous Brighton Pavilion.
  • 2 half-day outings to Eastbourne for an orientation tour of the town and free time.

Activities

The school staff will organize many recreational and cultural activities such as sports tournaments, individual and team games, fitness courses, arts & craft courses and music workshops, taking advantage of the numerous green and indoor spaces present in the college, as well as the tennis courts, the cricket pitches, the multipurpose theater and the new sports center with gym and swimming pool.

Every evening, here in Eastbourne, the English Activity Leaders will organize many activities for you to enjoy in the company of your Italian and foreign friends that you will meet in college in order to make this trip an unforgettable experience. Disco evenings, murder mystery nights, casino evenings or a suggestive walk at sunset, up to Beachy Head, the famous cliff overlooking the sea, to admire the surrounding landscape in all its splendour.
